Forming is the use of large press brakes to bend sheet metal, with thevariables of bend radius and bend angle. Our forming machines can bend up to 1/2" steel. We also have roller machines which can roll sheet metal into a variety of size tubes.
Forming can be a very cost-effective way to create complex 3D geometries from sheet metal as compared to welding. At Prototek our 140-ton press brake can bend up to 1/2" steel pending the length and radius of the bend.
Forming is faster and more cost-effective than welding but can only beaccomplished if the finished part geometry supports this process.CNC programming of machines for bend deductions can occur morerapidly than programming for tabs for welding.
