Forming

Forming is the use of large press brakes to bend sheet metal, considering the variables of bend radius and bend angle. At Prototek our 140-ton press brake can bend up to 1/2" steel pending the length and radius of the bend. We also have roller machines which can roll sheet metal into a variety of sized tubes.

Advantages

Forming can be a very cost-effective way to create complex 3D geometries from sheet metal. In some project forming can be faster and more cost-effective than welding. CNC programming of machines for bend deductions can occur more rapidly than programming for tabs for welding.

Considerations

Forming can only be accomplished if the finished part’s geometry supports the process.
